OVERHEAD CRANE
The overhead crane course is designed for the operator who requires theoretical and practical instruction at basic level, in operating an overhead crane in an industrial or warehouse environment.
It is also applicable to those experienced operators who require refresher training.

COURSE CONTENT
• Understand the risks involved in operating an overhead crane
• Understand the legal requirements involved in lifting operations
• Identify the basic construction, purpose and function of components and the purpose and use of all controls and gauges.
• How to carry out all pre-use and running checks.
• Operate and travel the equipment with and without loads ensuring stability and control
• Set up and lift various loads within the full working range of the crane.
• Basic slinging techniques applicable to the working range of the crane*
• Place and retrieve loads accurately from various lifting points.
• Place the crane in an out of service condition.
* Please note that although the slinger training will be suitable for the crane and associated loads to be lifted, the slinger/signaller qualification will be restricted to “Overhead Crane operations only”, and not applicable for other types of crane operations.
Duration: The duration of the course is between 1 – 3 days dependent on experience with a maximum training ratio of 3 students to 1 instructor. (See Training Info).
Venue: Can be carried out at our training school in Eastleigh or at an employer’s premises. (See training Info).
Assessment: At the end of the course students will undergo a formal written test on all theoretical subjects covered and a practical assessment on their basic skills.
Accreditation: NPORS or LETS certificate
Cost: Dependant on course duration and attendees.
